A brief synopsis of Lance's pertinent experience begins at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury Connecticut where his career culminated in his appointment as Security Manager of the Safety and Security Department. Prior to his promotion to this very competitive position, Lance served in the department for twenty one years, rising through the ranks. During his tenure as manager, he was instrumental in establishing the Safety and Security Department as one of the strongest and successful departments within the hospital. Upon his taking over the department in 2002, morale was very low. In 2006 a hospital wide staff survey indicated that morale in the Safety and Security Department was the highest in the hospital (5.9 out of a possible 6.0 score). Lance developed a comprehensive Security Management Plan for the Joint Commission Accreditation. The inspector mentioned at the EOC Accreditation meeting that Lance's program was the most comprehensive he has seen as an inspector for JCAHO. On the staff level, Lance implemented a certification program through The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety for officers and supervisors and conducted training in a multitude of disciplines. Lance was responsible for Safety/Security, Parking and Valet which encompassed a multi- million dollar budget.
Lance then moved on to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, in Hartford, Connecticut in the spring of 2007 as the Protection Services Manager. Lance was instrumental in bringing the Protection Services Department to new heights within the museum by realigning the department and implementing new technologies in the protection of the artwork. Lance was responsible for the Security Department which included a multi-million dollar budget as well as the protection of over a billion dollars in assets.
Lance holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies with a minor in Counseling from Post University of Waterbury, Connecticut, and is working toward his Master's at Quinnipiac University of Hamden, Connecticut
